still no word on the street price yet?

During the last D300s promotion which had ended last 31oct; the price's about $2050-$2100, with additional 50/1.8d, 2 x 8GB SD cards, nikon bag, this should be a good bargain :)

Amazon sell D7000+kit lens for USD1700, which in SGD and +GST, I estimate would be around $2000.

So the price is same-same.
So which one is better bargain? Should be D300s right?

But don't think the replacement will be here so soon. Nikon should have serious stocking issues for the upcoming holiday season for the D7000 so they can't afford another demand surge I think :bsmilie:

was at lords to find out more about D7000 arrival and heard from Raymond...

The D300s Promotion extended...

for another week...

i called nikon sales and asked.
promotion ended, but redemption for the gift will end this fri.

so even if u buy now, u won't be able to redeem the 50 f1.8 etc...

i prefer the d300s than the d7000 as it feels more solid in your hand.it's full mag body compare to half mag. for the d7000.:p

As long as it's fully weather sealed, it doesn't matter - D7000 grip fits firmly in my hands, I have no qualms about it. Lighter as well since not full mag. Price is definitely a consideration, but I trust street pricing will definitely be better than D300s. :)

Secondly, image resolution much higher - still + video... that's another 2 plus points for the D7000 alone. You get to print bigger, right? Video wise, fill up your entire HDTV LCD/LED!

Isn't 14-24mm a FX lenses? I think the Sigma 10-20, Tokina 11-16 or Nikon 12-24 are more suitable for D300s.

the lenses u mentioned are wider, but all works fine on the d300s

hope they will clear their stock for D700 too . . . :bsmilie:
(i am aiming for the D700 replacement)

Just bought my long eyeing Tokina 11-16mm/F2.8. Love the low light performance at UWA. Now I can take a big family dinner photo in a small 3 rm flat.

Be careful of using UWA to take proper portraits. The person's hands, legs or face will be enlarged if part of them are close to the lens, unless you want this as special effect.

Not only 14-24, but all the 3 lenses in the BH Photo Video promotion (14-24mm + 24-70mm + 70-200mm lenses) are FX lenses.

But it shouldn't be an issue anymore, it's a common nowdays to use FX lenses on DX body.

i think one should factor in the price in making a decision.

yup.. price indeed will be the main factor for the consumers to make their decision.
either D7000 or D300s
