The meaning of love

I'm a noob in photography...
took this photo using a handphone camera cos i dun even own a digicam at that time
appreciate all comments

1. in what area is critique to be sought?
Erm... i'm not very sure maybe the composition?

2. what one hopes to achieve with the piece of work?
This isn't an original idea for a shot... i hope to know how this photo fair...

3. under what circumstance is the picture taken? (physical conditions/emotions)
an impromtu shot when i saw half the page was "love" related... saw quite afew photos of similar usage of a ring thus decided to try it out.

4. what the critique seeker personally thinks of the picture
A dictionary doesn;t tells you what love means... You have to feel it yourself

seems like the focus is on the words and not on the ring..

were you deliberately focusing on the words?
think it'd be better if the focus was on the ring.

other than that i think the exposure and colour tone is just nice

the ring is there just to create the heart shape to match the words

Nice composition in my humble opinion.

I will give it wee bit more space on the top left to bring the ring in a little. The glare from the book is a little distracting cos its competing for attention from the twinkle from the ring.

good composition and balance for a phone camera. Time to buy a DSLR

try doing this in bnw, the purple noise on the left is spoiling this somewhat.

maybe give some more space as well, the bottom right is very, very tight.

It's good, just that the light is obviously too harsh. I think composition is fine. The shadow is just perfect eh. :thumbsup:

its quite difficult to take pics like this using dslr, need the right lights and lenses..try a few times

Can try a Red filter to get a Red Heart.

If you take this photo with a DSLR, you find you can do more with the focusing and exposure settings. More decisions to make!

agreed. bnw really will bring out the tones.

and the ring is really a touch of genius i gotta admit. the shadow is a heart. this is really creative and original. :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Concept-wise, it has been done before. So I'll not touch on the originality.

Composition wise, the top and left feels quite tight.

Composition wise very tight, squeezed, driven into a corner, like cannot breathe, quick get out of that relationship...

Try converting this to black and white, like what night86mare mentioned

I've seen this concept shot before... but copying is one way to learn... so keep learning, and start to try and come up with your own ideas... you're doing great!
