My favorite section in that article happens to be this:
Try this simple experiment. Don't include any documentation, printed or electronic. Include a completely blank README.TXT file. If you sell 10,000 copies of your product, you might get 10 calls from people who notice the missing docs.

Alternatively, when someone calls for technical support, ask if they had already tried finding the answer in the documentation. Most will swear that they had, in fact, spent the last two hours pouring through the documentation before calling tech support.
I've been participating in HWZ Software Clinic for 3 years or so... and really, I've seen a fair deal of people asking questions without even realizing it's all in the manuals / documentation / help files!! :bsmilie:

i've had people come up to me asking how to use a certain piece of software - even when the instructions are right on screen.
