Going to throw it on the table and say that DX format will be gone by 2020....

2015 we will start to see the mass sales of DX Lenses and Bodies.

Just a matter of time...

DX will simply be a part of all Nikon DSLR cameras, like it is now with the FX, once you plug in a DX lens, it will detect and change it to DX mode.
there won't be anymore DX DSLRs in the future as technology improve and FX becomes cheaper and cheaper to manufacture and produce.

just my personal view. feel free to debate. :)

It's the manufacturer themselves that are pushing into FX format...one good evidence is the recent released Entry Level FX body from both top camp.
If this is true (thou Nikon Rumors clain DX not dead yet), does existing DX User wanting to switch to FX?

IN the DX sensor never ending yet.

Nikon D400 Specifications | Nikon D400

i hope they still announce few DX pro lens and body.

some like hobby or budget buyer and still can decide of DX level.

i guess nikon will added crop x2.0 feature like FX body can be switch to DX mode.

specially like 50mm x1.5 = 75 and x2.0 = 100mm @ f/1.4 wow cool man..

If nikon coming new lens from 10mm f/2.8G, 14mm f/2G, 19mm f/2G DX do you will buy?

:( that is truly tragic. Maybe you never use a big lens that's why.

There'll always be size conscioused and price sensitive users. FX will always be bigger and more expensive. DX is not dead, long live DX! I'll always have DX for the treks and non critical applications. You can carry your FX to Nepal if you like.

What if ...
an advent of a wholly new tech of image capturing
not using a sensor
or a totally new platform
unseen till launched
that will take image of a different nature
deals not with resolution
needs no lenses
much less of an obsolete camera
where the DXs and FXs worth a dime a dozen
where neither Hawking nor Edison could ever imagined
and a new enterprise were to be birthed
that would push canon and nikon into extinction
and olympus and sony would lie with dinosaurs
that will be the day i would reflect upon the day
i parted with my hard earned money for a D70
and a wad of corrupted dollars for a D3
that would be the day
Come, make my day

Sound like you wear the optical sunglasses and what you see and use your brain to be capture via wireless printing or transfer to your Internet service storage :)
