The Americans do it again.. Class action suit #xxxxxxxx

Ppl with established brand name have the tendency to be complacent. They forget what makes them great in the first place.

Let's hope they do learn their lesson before it's too late.

If indeed it was a issue, Nikon should own up and do something. Replace the faulty part if it can be done or accept trade in if it is beyond repair. If all these are not true defend vigorously. Consumers should know the truth.

Consumers should know the truth.

This is the Truth. Nothing but the Truth: :bsmilie:

Oh please, there is a class action suit for anything and everything in the USA.

The one who gains the most is the law firm. They don't really care the clients

The one who gains the most is the law firm. They don't really care the clients

The last time I was involved in a class action lawsuit, I received a big fat cheque for $1.25 after 2 years.

anything goes in the US. Most prob will end up with the consumers getting a pittance for their waiting , Nikon reporting a quarterly loss and these self proclaimed 'for the better good' lawyers rolling in the cash they earn from the suit.

It is a good thing.
The consumer is a small entity. A rich international company with established brand is a giant.
A giant has deep pockets and an in-house legal department plus batteries of high priced external lawyers as consultants.
A big corporation can and does bully its way around and threaten a lone citizen consumer.

In Singapore, we have the unsavoury and obnoxious historical fact of Mr. T. T. Durai & the NKF doing that to lone citizens.
He only lost when he mis-calculated that strong support from the-then Mrs Prime Minister will be enough to frighten SPH, which is another giant corporation with its strong board of powerful beings such as Lim Kim San and Tony Tan (current President) and even deeper pockets than the NKF, to hire top lawyers.

In America class action suit has been used by Ralph Nader to get the US motor manufacturers to improve the safety of their vehicles.

While there are some good that came out of class action lawsuits, 99.99% of them have degenerated into a tool for lawyers to make a quick buck.
