Exact location or nature of shoot will be discussed later among confirmed participants.

Please put your name down the list ONLY if you can make it for the trip or at least 90% sure you can.

All members are welcomed to join but would like to keep the group relatively small and manageable. Since 10 is not a terribly auspicious figure, I proposed 8.

The trip would be from Thursday night (Friday 9th is Good Friday) to Monday evening. So, we will have to take a day leave on Monday. Effectively, we should have at least 3 full days to give our shutters a run for their money.

Based on past experience, to avoid disappointment and to ensure flight availability and stuffs, we need to get our act together fast!

I reckon $500 is enough?!?! Since I have never been to Thailand, could someone verify or suggest a realistic figure. Ruth?

U can even get let say $350 for air tix and accomodation. (free & ez)

airport tax in bangkok if im not wrg is 2000 baht? canx remember.. cuz i never pay myself.. lolz

in terms of shooting for 3 days is a bit difficult... u can wake up earlie in e morning abt 5am... roam ard the street... u will see many monks barefooted.. walking to household... and those thai pple will offer small red packet or food to them... this is one their culture...

other wise is food and shopping

so is this trip only shooting and nothing else??

if got shopping and sightseeing i may want to bring my gf along too, cos never been there before, so prefer to go in group or with someone who know the place

wah
i jus checked.. air asia to bangkok is only $59.90
lolz!!!!

if really cfm.. i see if im going to bangkok.. den i plan shooting cum shopping agenda for u guys...

too bad... my mum jus bought a condo in e city.. but will only be ready in yr 2007.. lolz!!! or else everyone bunk in

Let see...

St shoot wud be nice.. cuz different of culture

Am sure Thai food, sight seeing, photography and shopping top the priority list of travellers going to Thailand. So, I believe we are of no exception. Put photography aside, I don't see how I can resist sweet & sour, spicy Thai food ;p

Actually, besides temples and monks, I have always wanted to visit the Thailand Floating Markets...

Several floating markets ('talaat naam') in and around Bangkok offer the
tourist a picture-postcard image of the traditional Thai way of life. Small
wooden boats laden with fruits, flowers, vegetables and other produce from
nearby orchards and communities make a colorful and bustling scene at market
time. The boats are inevitably paddled by Thai women in blue farmer's garb
('mor hom') and flat-topped conical hats called 'muak ngob', which are
characteristic to all parts of Thailand. The floating markets are still
important commercial centers for those living along the banks of 'klongs' with
no road access.

Three floating markets are within reach of Bangkok

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, 80 km southwest of Bangkok in Ratchaburi
province, is one of the largest and most popular floating markets among
tourists. Also known as Klong Lat Phli Floating Market by the locals, the
market is active in the mornings only, from 6.00 am to 11.00 am. If you want to
take photos without hordes of tourists, get there early.

Air-conditioned buses leave for Damnoen Saduak every half hour starting at 6.00
am from the southern bus terminal on Boromrat Chonnani Road, Tel +66 2 434-5557-
8. To get to the market itself, take a boat from Potchawan Landing or Seri
Khemi Kaset Landing. Several smaller and quieter floating markets are located
in Ratchaburi and nearby Samut Songkhram province. The best way to explore
these markets is to hire a long-tailed boat for around 300 baht an hour, (or
less depending on your bargaining powers).

Tha Kha Floating Market is about 10 km beyond Damnoen Saduak. It can
easily be reached from Samut Songkhram by minibuses, which leave every 20
minutes. The market is active from 6.00 am to 12.00 am on weekends only.

Bang Khu Wiang Floating Market, in Bang Kruai district of Nonthaburi
province, can be reached by boat from Tha Chang Pier near the Grand Palace. The
market operates from 4.00 am until late morning but the best time to visit is
around sunrise. Monks also come to the market by rowing boat to receive alms
from the villagers.

Hi Jas and binbeto, I prefered the place with mountains and kampong side of thailand. May be in the eastern side of Thailand. For bangkok, best for street shooting and l_b_n_ shooting only. :D

Cheers.

mountains???? know your limit, suhaimig... :D
Get over a hill first before we talk mountain kay.

But, I would imagine kampong should be within reach at the outskirt of bangkok, just like the floating market is.

Where is chiang rai, ruth? How far from Bangkok?

For bangkok trip u guys can approach Muhibbah Travels for flight tics
as they have bluk allocation to SQ and Thaiair flight to bangkok so it would be much much cheaper.. most mid/small travel agents get their tic from them and charge their cust a little higher. Hotel enquries also can get from them but if more into an adventurous mood can try backpackers "hotels" but that u need to source on the net.

Air asia flight is cheap but read the fine prints e.g. no canclelation refund and such.

could try the slikair flight to puket too i think 160 for return but still read the fine print.

hope u guys dont get angry by my kay-pohing. just trying to help as i am very into buget travels :)

PS.. anyway i am in no way trying to promote any agency which i mention just that i got tips from my GF who is in the travel industry ...

am interested, but cannot confirm yet.

can bring gf along ?

If your GF dun mind us photography freaks :bsmilie: and willing to endure our strange habit of standing under a tree, waiting for the "perfect moment". Yes, she can tag along. :)

You will need to confirm though.

I am setting a deadline for people to indicate their interest in this trip, so as to have enough time for planning and applying leaves.

All pms to reach me or jasphotography by 20 Mar, 2004.

Cheers.
