Today Carrfour is selling a Bluesky Telescope with magnification of 175x. Is this a good telescope as the price is $49? Can one with idea if this can be attach to the EOS digital body with some adopter?

What is the aperture and focal length of that telescope?

thanks for replying so quick. what do u mean by a toy scope? Is it that the quality of the images is no up to standard? I did not have any idea what is the focal length or aperture.

Chances are you will see alot of false lights, especially purple and yellow lights on the subject you are trying to see.

Recently come across this meade ETX60 on yahoo auction.
maginification is from 14X to 200X with f/5.9
which means it magnify larger than Canon 1200mm L which can cost you a HDB flat.
if you mount the telescope on camera, it should be able to auto expose but not auto focus.
Only question is as it magnify further, does it reduce the aperture?
Since telescope lens cannot zoom. from layman terms, it means prime lens. does it produce good optical result as compared to normal camera lens?

Although I believe that "you pay peanuts you get monkey". I still think that for $49, it is a good deal. Maybe for once in a while solar eclipse, comet?

dun worry, no body touch it.. no body buy it...
dun think u can hook it up to the EOS 300 ... it is too light.. the camera body would make the whole setup unbalance..
image quality is HORRIBLE....

A 60mm telescope will be looking at at max 120x magification.
The aperture is fixed. The optical result is not as good as you will get with normal camera lens as it is not APO...... and it is not designed to be used as a camera lens, but for visual use.....

No point .... you will burn your eyes if you use that for eclipse and you will not be able to catch a comet with that.
If you want to follow up on photography through a telescoope try loooking up Digiscoping on the Web. Yahoo has a Digiscoping group which has some very good infomation but mostly using $$$$$ gear.
