I would suggest EF 100mm f2.8 Macro USM.

On a crop camera.... that would be around 160mm, which make taking photos of insect much more easy. The EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM is good too..... but I find it a little 'short' for certain insect. :sweat:

Please define "overall usability". There are so many different purposes and also various factors to consider that it is impossible to get a reasonable answer. If you intend to shoot macros you can have a look into the macro section here and ask for specific feedback.

thanks for the input som far and I have decided on the 100mm f/2.8 lens
