Hi All

Was searching for this but could not find it. I recently rented a lens. The hood that came with it have the inside of the hood taped with some kind of felt material. Only reason i could thing of was reflection but am not sure of the reason. Does anyone know why the inside is taped?

You're right, it's to minimize the reflections and reduce flare. Some lens hoods are felt-lined, some have a rough staggered pattern.

Thxs for the info.... been wondering about the felt-like thing on some of my Hoods for sometimes...

Some third party hoods do not have that felt lining like the original hoods.
Do you all know if Gaffer tape will help, if what we need is to reduce the reflections of this inside surface?

Thanks for the reply. wonder where can buy that material..anyone any idea?
