Hi Senior Members,

I got my new Tamron 17-50mm 2 days ago, found that the pic are not that sharp (soft) at F2.8 and pretty decent at F8 (have to test some were in the mid), can you pls share your comments or how the pic sharpness is?

Also Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 users pls give your view if the sharpness of the images are good with my new lens.

I think it's pretty alright from the pic even it was at wide open. Go out and enjoy your lens and be happy :)

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your responses....

Yes if we see the image from fliker it looks good, but when i see the original image at 100% with any pic viewer in the computer u can see the difference..

Please download the pic and see the diff at 50mm @ f2.8 and f8.0 you can notice the diff.

this is the first time am using dslr and these are my first shots so not able to decide...

well if you've read online reviews all have mentioned about lack of sharpness @ F2.8 for this lens. if you're looking at pitch sharp images when shooting wide open then consider getting premium lens for your dslr instead

of course there is difference between f2.8 and f8, this lens has constant aperture thru out all focal length, but it does not mean constant sharp sharp thru out all apertures.

if you expect all f2.8 lenses sharp sharp at wide open aperture, and sharp sharp from corner to corner, tell you only a few lenses able to do that, and of course it is very very expensive lens.

Thanks friends..... i understood that my expections were too much, bcoz after comparing the same shots taken in Canon 55-250, i felt they were good at the min focal lenght and the max focal length.... Ofcourse as you people said the F value for Canon 55-250mm ranges from 4.0 to 5.6 and so i think it maintained sharper.... but compare to this lens... Tamron is very wide opened at f2.8 and i think i should be happy with the result i get...

Once again Thanks for clearing my doubts.....

HERE ARE SOME SAMPLE PIC'S I HAVE TAKEN...
