Tamron 28-300mm XR Ultra Zoom( Canon Mount)

Hi all, what do you guys think of this lens? The range looks really versatile for a beginner like me. I just wonder if the optical quality is as good as what is advertised at www.tamron.com. Would really appreciate your comments. Thanks

Pretty good for the price. Paid about $600 at AP. Good for beginner to practice composition and handling of camera before jumping for the big guns.

Can't remember which site where I read the review, it was mentioned that the zoom range of 300mm is not exactly 300mm as claimed. Let me try to search for the review again.

have not used it before but its zoom range caught my eye.
great for travel, i should say... should be a good buy if u print at 4R most of the time.
