Hello friends!

Wondering if anybody has any experience in purchasing from Tagotech (Singapore)?

In particular, I'm keen to know about the build quality and functionality of their Lightstand Mini. If you got one from them, please share your opinions about the product!

This is the link: http://store.tagotech.com/product_info.php?products_id=89

I'm considering getting two of those light stands from them, because it's cheap and light (at 1.04kg), seems small enough (about 60cm), and can extend to 2m.

Seems almost perfect for my kind of setup, but would like to be sure of the quality and build, and whether it's realy what it claims to be! The online pictures look shoddy, to be honest.

Thank you :)

They are an affordable alternative to stands that cost a lot more. Generally, 'affordable' (read: CHEAP) means that compromises have to be made somewhere. If you're looking for the last word in stands, durability etc, look to brands like FOBA, Manfrotto etc, but be prepared to pay a lot more. http://www.vistek.ca/details/results.aspx?Level1=STANDS&Manuf=Foba&CategoryID=ProPhotoLightingStands http://www.vistek.ca/details/result...vel1=STANDS&CategoryID=ProPhotoLightingStands I think these prices are in USD

Having said that, I'm glad that Paul, who's a great guy to deal with BTW - is making such affordable options available to hobbyist and enthusiasts who want or need such equipment but can't or don't want to make hefty investments in full-blown industrial grade equipment.

If you get them and don't like them, I'll be glad to take them off you. ;)

Thanks Dream Merchant! I appreciate your very practical and down to earth advice!

I understand the compromises, and that being said - i don't require my light stand to fold down to 40cm, and weigh 500g, and still take a 3kg flash head!! Haha - Just a simple, light enough one, which can take the weight of an umbrella and flash with stability.

I take your word for the reliability of Paul (of Tagotech?) and his products, and I'm quite inclined to purchase two of those stands. I'm glad for such resourceful people giving us consumers other options. Thanks also for the offer of purchasing the stands from me if I do not want them - will let you know if I do end up in that position! I certainly hope not :)

I'd get the Manfrotto 001B Nano lightstand but it's about $100 from CP. Which is decent for quality stuff that packs nicely and lightly.. But I'd go for cheap where reasonably possible since this isn't my big-time profession.
