Here are some snipe photos, its not easy to
frame them as their bodies match so well with
the mud patterns..

Swinhoe snipe

Here is another one poking around the water weeds for food.

This one was flying and landed 3 feet away from in the grass.
It always freezes its position and it allowed me to take a snap.

The behaviour is very interesting as it moves around the wetland
poking its head into the mud in search for food. Once in a while it
suddenly freezes and lies still. Within 1 min, it will start moving again.

It is supposedly a very shy bird and flies away and freezes at its
landing position until the disturbance is gone.
