Hi,
Newbie here, would like to take advices on what super wide angle lens you guys will go for? or just go for a "normal" wide angle will do the job for landscape photography?

for nikno, theres a nikkor wide angle. then theres a tokina 12-24, a tamron and also the sigma 10-20. all have advantages and disadvantages. if u google, there was a shoot out between all 4 i think. optically wise, i think nikkor and sigma are top of the list.
but dont get it in your mind, that you need a super wide angle to shoot good landscape photography. some really good landscapes can also be shot with telephoto zooms... or 85 or 135mm primes... all down to how u like to shoot.

i use a sigma 10-20mm. and that is the widest non fish eye digital lens. and i hope to get even wider. but those who wanted better quality may go for nikkor or tokina.

i'm sorry if the canon/pentax/olympus/sony gets left out. maybe others can provide links to that.

The widest fisheye is the 8mm Pelang

i don't think he was asking about the peleng. it's not really an everyday-use kinda lens. i for one dislike it ;p

if ur using canon, get the 10-22mm EF-S or sigma 10-20mm for $200 less. i tried the EF-S 10-22mm and i was

Hi guys, wanna ask those who have wide-angle lens,

Will a B+W MRC UV 77mm filter cause vignetting on a tokina 12-24mm?

Gonna get the 12-24mm soon, but I dunno what brand of filter to get.

Thanks!

You can go to my PBase site and have a look for yourself what the Sigma 10-20 can do.

Right away, I am still uploading now (Friday 7 PM) so more are coming.

This was a 2 weeks trip to Switzerland with 4 mountains included.
There you can realy see what a wide angle lens can do.

enjoy :)

this was taken with my Nikon D 50, almost enteirely with my Sigma 10-20 and right out of the Camera. (JPEG finest).

No PP, no adjustments, because when I looked at my about 1500 pics I gave up the thought of any such work.

I paid 890.- incl/GST

See what Ken Rockwell has to say about the ultra wide angle lenses before you make an informed decision which one to buy.
