blame it on unrealistic expectations and no proper upbringing of a child.

instead of letting the child enjoy their childhood, they're forcing them to become mini-businessmen or star achievers.

this builds up stress easily when they find that they cannot achieve what they used to as a child once they're in institutes of higher education and in the workforce

Till we have "concrete proof" on what actually happened regarding this sad case where the 8yr old is found dead... Stress, Run Away From Home, Unloving Parents or whatever other causes we could 'think' of... is NOTHING but pure Speculation. :think:

Accident or Suicide... and whatever the reason that leads to it... I'll wait till the official Police Inquiry... but I'll bet with whatever little I own... that the cause is NOT a mountain of debt, the 8yrs old incurred, gambling in any of the 2 Casino in SG... :nono:

Haha I wasn't referring to any case in particular but just a general remark on the possible contributing reason to the increase in suicide cases here in SGP.

Any yes - I know someone who threw themselves of a HDB Balcony this year... a young couple had issues then in the end all cause her BF not open the front door (his house) for her to talk late one night... so she jumped off... her mum found her on the pavement... she died soon later!

Waste of life.... Lastly - If you Don't want to live : go be an organ donor first.

My old man got sh*t load of Ah Long and Credit Card debt long before LKY hand over PM post to GCT... which meant there isn't even any talk of casino in SG yet. Gambling itself is a problem... but you think before the casino was opened in SG... Gambler has no other place or method to gamble ?? Ever see a group of 'ah beng' uncle sitting outside a carpark ?? Money changes hand whenever a car comes it... depending on the last car plate number being an even or odd number... No illegal 4D or Gambling house ?? No Genting Highland in Malaysia or Casino Boat in Batam ??

Dear friend... alot of S'porean has been gambling since before independence with or without Casino in Singapore... trying to shift fault to the Casino while forgetting the Jobs they created is quite unfair...

Education system need a relook......

Society and Parents expectation should be relooked on the whole, Education System is but the result of the expectation of the 2... in a dog eat dog society (and SG is NOT the only one)... if you are not the top dog, you are the minions to be ordered around. Society knows that... Parents knows that... which is why the stress is transferred to the child, hoping and dreaming the child could be one of those on top... few and far between do I see parents telling their child its ok to fail or not do well in school... how many parents do you know, said to their child its ok to be a painter or sculpturer without 1st trying their very best to force the child to be doctor, lawyer or engineer ??

We live in a Society WE CREATED... and we expect an Education System that matches our expectation... even when our expectation gives problem to our youngster... And parent or child who try to live outside this social norms, will find it an uphill task to prove themselves. :sweat:

Last time, when the grade no good, the kid got scolded by parents. Now?

I do have a kid, and I do visit school to meet teachers, and there are parents who question the teacher why the kid can't do well.

The thing that goes in my mind was: Helloooooo, are you the parents or the gal sitting at the teacher's desk. Go google up the word parent and see if a person with that title is the main care giver, still the main educator of a kid's life even that kid has manyf teachers.

When you have too much information from internet and the media before young mind could mature enough to know reality and the facts of life... this happens... too many youngsters have unrealistic hopes and dreams... millionaire by 40... Car and Condos... easy life without hard work... when reality strikes... so may not be able to handle the truth that life is a struggle and few will ever have it easy all their life...
