stupid qn about counter

Hi,
i've got a problem, hope some one can help. everytime i finish shooting and after downloading the pix to my pc i place the cf card back into my dslr. the counter automatically returns back to 0000 so therefore i do not get an accurate shutter count. :dunno:

do i have to set something? many thanx.

What camera are you using? On my 300D there is an option in one of the menus that says "File numbering". Selecting it allows me to choose between "Continuous" and "Auto Reset".

Yours probably has "Auto Reset" (or whatever equivalent) set.
