i think...getting a little more to the left (plus a little bit more of the person standing) might give the needed impact of waiting, reading, squating and writing.

yeah...should have framed a bit more to the left to avoid chopping off the calligrapher's bum. this guy was the best calligrapher that day at xiangyang gongyuan (park).

took it on film, fuji superia 400, scanned and converted to B&W.

Guessed as much. I haven't been able to achieve the same B + W feel with digital . I think for B + W, film rules.
