Hi to all bros.

i just bought my D40x today.
however i got a question to ask regarding storing of the camera.

i do not have a dry box.
is it ok to store it in my room where there is air-con?
will only on at night when i sleep...

pls advise.
thanks!

it's quite ok la.
The camera is not going to immediately start growing fungus! :)
If you store it in air-con room at night, and use the camera outdoors regularly (exposed to UV light), fungus growth should be negligible.
Then again, a dry cabinet doesn't cost too much. A dry box even less. Save $1 a day, and you can buy a dry box within a month :)

If you use your camera and lens regularly, there's actually no need for dry box/cabinet.
But if you intend to get some lens, then a dry box/cabinet is a good investment.

oh ok. great bros! thanks alot!!
btw...
for the D40x...is there a way to see how much shots i have taken in total?
i was told tat is like a lifespan of 20k?

Google opanda iexif...

Can't be just 20k shots... That is way too little, can probably shoot that much in a year or so. Don't know the exact number, but should be at least 50k...

Don't worry too much about shutter count anyway, shutter doesn't die so easily... It will only cost $200 or so to replace it if it does die years down the road...

Just shoot and stop worrying about all these little things... :)

How could you shoot 5k shots in one day? Or is it second-hand?

Curious... OT abit... did anyone's shutter die when it hit 20k?
I seriously doubt it will die so early. Mine is only 3 months old and over 5000 shutter count already...

If its going to die so early, better die before my 15 months warranty expire! :bsmilie:

my shutter count at 24k lol and still ok
