One thing common for your 2 pics is overexposure, resulting not enough contrast. Especially the oxidation on the railway tracks is lost. Your title is stones, yet in your first picture, you maintain the color of the fern telling people that's the subject of your picture instead of the stones. For your 2nd picture, the focus is on the tracks, not enough weight was placed on the stones, hence your pictures are out of your title.
