Step down ring affect the image?

Hi,

Like to know. My lens is using 77mm filter to 67mm.
If i use a step down ring, Does it affect the pics quailty? Letting less light to come in?

If I m using a step up ring from 67mm to 77mm does it allow more light to come in?

I'm assuming you are using a 77mm filter on a 67mm lens...In this case, no effect on the image quality.

However, if you are using a 67mm filter on a 77mm lens, then u will get vignetting effects especially on the wide angles.
