Looks like a pretty short exposure (it's well under-exposed) ... you need a very dark site to get a shot like this, at least 100-200km from any major city.

It is however a very simple shot to make, either piggy back a camera on a telescope, use a guided telescope/camera mount or a motorized scotch mount.

Wah....so cheem ah.........I thought can just point my camera at the sky and expose!

Now to go find a telescope................

Pictures like these are "almost" impossible to get i Sg (although i would glady stand corrected if someone could advise me where to take a shot like this)

There are a few spots in and around Sg where it is dark (but not "100-200km from City lights" kind of dark) enough to try out shots like these but i think a clear clear sky is needed. (Pulau Ubin is a good bet BTW. So are certain parts of Sentosa. Hint: It isn't by the beach)

I would reckon a SLR using Bulb mode would best capture the picture since Digital Cameras are quite prone to noise....
