star effect in night shoot

anyone can tell me how to get the star effect with my A40? I read that some correct settings will give tht effect, right?

also there is something called star filter? how much?

thank you. still very new in photography. :dunno:

You will be ale to get a bit of the starry effect if ur aperture is at F7.0

I believe anything smaller than that (F8, F9) will be better but due to the noises I have for my cam, my limit is only at about F7 :(

Oly C-2100uz can produce pretty good starlight effect using a small aperture.......w/o additional filters.
 

i never use a holder for most of my filters.......i just place it in front of my lense.....

just hold it there? for night shots with a few seconds of expo to 10+ second of expo also? must have stble hand is it?
