Here are my shots from the event - this is my first time cycling down to the venue/route to take photos.

It must have been a great event - judging by the countless 300D's and D70's present, it must have been a photographer's delight to find countless interesting moments of human agony, delight and all forms of determination.

The lead pack of runners were mainly comprised of runners from African nations. They took only about 55 minutes to cover 17k when the photo was taken.

Another look at the lead pack, with the defending champion from last year, John Kelai (number tag 116, partially blocked by an elbow) tucked away safely within striking distance at the 17k mark.

The ladies' lead pack, made up mainly of African runners, and one Chinese runner. Eventual winner Hellen Cherono (#29) is somewhat lagging behind, but with another 25km to cover, she is still doing quite well.

Local runners G. Elangovan (#4684) and Khoo Chin Poo (#1177) are amongst the lead local men.

Ernest Wong (#136) takes it easy as he passes about 1:30 behind Elangovan and Khoo at the 17k mark.

Winner of this year's Army Half Marathon, Local Veteran's section, Lua Choon Huat, reaches the 17k mark in about 1:11. It is not known how he fared for the race. Behind him are - local runner Tan Chin Soon, and a (presumably) Russian lady runner.

2004-12-05-marathon-img_6294_std.jpg

Local evergreen runner, Lim Lian Hock has managed a clean break from other pursuing runners. He has been known to clock about 7:30 for a 2.4k run at age 49. :)

"I need a water break too!" A policeman helping out in traffic control duties takes a sip, in anticipation of the long, non-stop crowd that will pass by his duty area soon.

"Not giving in" - Two veteran runners - Jaffar Ahmad (right), and an unidentified local runner pacing each other along Stadium Link, at about the 37k mark.

"Checking out the back" - Ng Peng Joe (#1117) checks out the striking distance of national triathlete Hoong Zhi Chun (#3673), with about 3km to go. It is not known which of the two finished in front.

2004-12-05-marathon-img_6666_std.jpg

"Out of gas" - A runner with pacing balloons seems to run the same way as his balloons - out of gas.

A Korean lady runner finds an item of interest along the run route, and whips out her camera to take a shot. Wasn't she supposed to run instead? ;)

"We're in it together" - Two lady runners lending each other moral support as they conquer fatigue after covering 38k in the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2004.

Hey, obvious you put much more effort than I did. Good job and some nice shots there  I was at the finish line most time. ;)

BTW, thanks for the info about some mistakes in my post. I've updated them.

Cheers!

dont worry fengwei. my friend who was running, informed me of the errors, but I didn't know either, until she told me :)

thanks for the compliments, you deserve it too, since you also spent a lot of time at the event yourself :)
