Totally agree with dp...haven seen one which i would say that its worth looking at or give good comments so far. They are just in to the woman on set not the pictures..sadd

I find your groundless accusation about others rather disturbing. In similar line of thinking, can I say that you prefer men instead base on your thread “Test shoot with stage lights”? I won’t even want to bother asking exactly what you trying to achieve or express with those “test” images – concept photography or something? And for heaven sake, get a decent model for your work. Why? No budget or what? Even though DP may be harsh in his words but he does bring along some valid points with his statements – the typical Hongkees approach. What about you in this case? What are you trying to do here? If you are serious about helping the thread starter then kindly point out his mistakes (technical or artistic side of things or whatever) and support your points with constructive suggestions to improve like some did. Or better still, show him some of your work as examples to follow (but if you are thinking of using pics from the “test shoot with stage lights” thingy, then better forget it). If you are not interested in doing so and instead contributed valueless remarks, I bet such postings will be treated like as just another "no brainer” statement in CS which I certainly do not wish to see this being developed into a “reputation” for this forum. To be fair, everyone needs to learn and keep learning – it takes time to do so and there is no end to it. Help them (if you want to) and it may help you too.

Judge ... u r soooo baaaddd ...:bsmilie:
expecting ROB-B-HOOD to be shown here soon?...

From their reply, this group of photographers are definately not looking to improve. They are happy as long as there is a model wear not much in from of their camera. If they can also press the shutter, they are thrilled.

VERY SAD STATE OF AFFAIR!

Actually, the saddest state of affair is your courtesy. I think 20% of what you write is helpful. The other 80% does nothing except hurt other people and maybe boost your ego.

As I said before, ugly language is worse than ugly pictures.

I think we're missing the point here. I would agree that DP's language royally offends 80% of the time but hell, we won't learn if we get criticised with kid's gloves. You get burnt, you remember, you take note, and do better next time.

The idea is we put our 'best' photos up for the firing squad and roll with the punches. Take note: BEST for everyone to see. If you don't want a C&C, just indicate : just for sharing; otherwise, don't blame the world for pouncing on you. Reality check: the world ain't kind. And no amount of whining will change that -- working on your photos will.

And I have to disagree with you that ugly language is worse than ugly pictures. A single picture moves people to action. Language, well, you need to read and understand it before it moves you.

Well... we teach our children courtesy for a reason. So that they can go out there and interact without offending other people. If you notice, he does not pounce on the work. As I explained, he pounces on the work 20% of the time. The other 80% of the time, he is pouncing on the other party, just to really offend and boost his own ego.

It's actually very easy to talk about the work in a civil manner. A forum is not a boxing ring. There is no need for gloves. It's easy to say that the work is underexposed, flat etc... but there is no need to attack the photographer.

Of course, if he wants to be completely rude and uncivilised on an open forum, I have the right to tell him off. When I see people cutting queues or spitting on the pavement, I tell them off. This is not very different.

And I have to disagree with you that ugly language is worse than ugly pictures. A single picture moves people to action. Language, well, you need to read and understand it before it moves you.

Well... regarding what moves you, it's actually very personal. There are basically 3 types of people. Visual people are moved by pictures. Auditory people are moved by words. Kinestatic people are moved by feelings and emotion. We are all moved by vision, words and emotions... but by varying degrees.

I am a primarily kinestatic person. :)

There's a lot to learn about someone from their repeated actions and responses.

I've come to the conclusion that DP merely seeks attention and an undeserved acknowledgement of his presence. Take for example, he likes to say he can't understand why some people would take such pictures... but how can that be when his own pictures aren't any better? Thus, he is not only rude, but dishonest as well. Dishonesty is a sure sign that one has something like a personal weakness to hide or divert attention from.

So, what's the motivation behind his behaviour? Well take your pick... good intention, sheer vanity or mere venting of frustrations with his own life. Which do you think is more likely?

You are absolutely correct. My pictures generally suck. And my motivation is to seek attention, not on my self, but to point out the fallacy of fools like yourself.

Btw, your pictures are not so bad, but your mentality SUCKS big time. And that comment, I am being extremely honest.

I am afraid you are missing the point.

Nobody is saying that direct-to-the-face-harsh comments are undesirable. One can criticise VERY EFFECTIVELY with kids gloves if one wishes to.

Contrary to what someone wrote disparagingly in another thread about "educating" another person, giving critique is a form of education. When one gives a critique, one is trying to educate another so that the other can learn and make better pictures.

Granted, a receptive 'student" can learn from any teacher. But a teacher can be a lot more effective if he/she has better communication skills. But some "teachers" just do not care a damn sh1t, and prefer to use humiliation as a tool.

I believe this DP is a nerd with distorted face or some more..
Comments that comes about yes, put in a diplomatic way..

U want people to say to you on a MRT.

"excuse me.."

or

"siam"

or

an elbow in the ribs..?

All three give the same conclusion. We can always choose the 1st option, but some are just born to use the two other options. _ ! _ (if u know wat tis mean)

If you preach what you talk in real, DP, you are one damn unpopular chap everywhere.
Tell me if you have no fren cause you are too frank, else you are just a hypocrite.

"hey, dude, you shirt sucks..! take it off n go nude"
"Say gal, your blouse too tight, loosen up n show me some boobs..?"
"Hey, GM, you better exercise n get those rid of the belly, don't do justice to the clothes"

Alan, I generally find the photo ok.
You are not a pro, doing it for a living, but more for a hobby.
Composition wise, nothing much to fault, exposure to my computer looks ok, except for the 3rd piece. Also we tends to use too much DOF.

My personal opinion (remember u can't satisfy them all)

#1 tighter crop below, half of her boob overflowin..
#2 whole body n the boobs not sharp, maybe if you want attention on the face, closer to veron shot?
#3 Look to me quite crude.. hehe.. mayb some complain underexpose, they want to see some CK if you know what I mean, those perverts. Too much.

bwilly, you are so correct, I absolutely have no friends, that is why I am online torment the likes of you. By the way, if you and yours are the only people around, I am better off with no friends.

btw, your pictures are getting worse and worse, maybe, you are incapable of learning and improving, how sad.

Aiyo... it's very hard to respect anyone that is so pointless and nonsensical at his age.

DP used to say my pictures were so bad and all that. And now he is saying they are not so bad. DP has no intention to 'be a man' or stand by his words. He's just here for fun and to make fun. And since we are certain that his behaviour does not come from good intentions, then we know its just an indication of bad character and upbringing.

Don't take him so seriously and it'll be ok.
If DP was in his teens or just got out of army, may not be so bad. But frankly, i think the teens today seem far more mature.
But how old is he? 40+ ??!!! Wanna tell us, or should i ask your "friends"? Hehe ;)

I guess he's trying very hard not to be a typical 'uncle'.
So perhaps we should be more understanding and play along with him.

ok lah. let's not OT.

Of course, there are better pictures of Veronica where her facial expressions and pose were truly erection-inducing. But i'm sure for the photographer, he saw that in his pictures... just as I got that feeling from my pictures of her. hehe;p

if that's all what everybody here sees in a girl, that is very sad.

One thing I never liked about taking photographs of pretty girls that 1/2 the equation is missing: personality. Maybe to each her own, but I find personality more attractive than just physical looks alone.

I would blatantly say if I were to shoot a girl, I would not bother about trying to show how tillitating she is or what kind of attitude to portray. I'd simply concentrate on the basics : Lines, curves, light and shadow.

Well, to everyone's discern.

hahaa

Wisp, your comments are indicative of an undeveloped thought.
You bring out textbook rights and wrongs, which everyone knows.
If you wanna help the world change to become a better place, then you need to think harder. You need to live life over and over again. You need experience. From the sound of it, either you are very young or have been deluding yourself for years.

If we cannot realise that everyone has a right to own a camera and use it, then we are truly deluded and blinded.
By everyone i mean, the abstract artist, the porn fan, the filmmaker, the wanna-be professional photog, the uncle with grandchildren, and the yuppie who doesn't have to save money for a car. You know how I know most humans are full of contradictions and double standards? Pictures of kids are always wonderful. No matter how badly taken. Nobody cares to criticise the photographer. But when it comes to pretty girls and wanna be models, everyone is so full of opinions. If there are among you those who look down on the average man with a dick for a brain, then you shouldnt come to places where the mainstream hang out, where the heartlander hangs out. You should go to your prim and proper palace and high society jaunts and stick your noses in the air with their kind.
Remember, remember who are you to tell people they can be better?
If society and history can be wrong, then you can be wrong.

Didnt we just say dont OT u stupid fool?
Denial is not going to change the world we live in you fool!
You think you are the first to make your stupid comments?

You should get out more often, see the world. Do you know the difference between the real world and being policitically correct? If you can't be honest with yourself, then you should really shut up. Cos your words have no value. And are targetted to no one.

how rude of you.

what's wrong with Wisp's comments? what he wrote makes absolute sense to me. what you wrote is nonsense. look through the threads in portraits section and tell me how many pictures actually show beyond superficial poses and make ups? you should go out and see the world more, the world isn't as shallow as bikinis and sexy poses.

add: i see you edited your post, what's up?

eikin, it's useless to talk to a fool, bene hill here will never understand, all he can do is yap his beak and make crude remarks.

bene hill here is also a coward.

who's denying others the right to owning a camera?

by mainstream are you saying that most people have a dick for a brain?

are you saying middle-low income earners cannot appreciate anything beyond bikinis and sexy poses?

LOL OMFG....hey have you been out much? You oughta hang around me more :). You're a crack up..honestly!

wah blur already. So are u agreeing with me or agreeing with wisp that people shouldnt be dickheads and follow rules of photography?

I say people have a right to be dickheads if they wanna be. And nobody has a right to say that being a dickhead is worse than being and arty farty pretender.
