Sony H7 or Canon S5

hi guys,

I am keen on learning photography from scratch and only have a budget of S$800

Can i have advice on which camera to get?

Is H7 and S5 considered DSLR?

what are the differences and the strengths of the two brands?

They are not DSLR cameras. They are considered "prosumer" or "bridge" cameras. Try reding the reviews on DPreview, they are compared to each other.

Ever considered the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 ? It's a pretty nifty camera. 18x zoom (28-504mm), 1cm super macro, etc. It goes for about S$650-S$700.
