The most important thing we need to notice is the change of mount, now called the Z mount

Side by side the f mount vs the z mount.
With the new mount Nikon is no longer held back and we can expect new lens designs. (Some sample images later)

Also there was the new 500mm f5.6
Really small and light. In fact lighter than my Tamron 70-200 f2.8 G2

Check out the bokeh from the Nikkor S 35mm f1.8 @ f1.8, shot with the Nikon Z7
the new Z mount allows closer focusing and better image quality than the F Mount

f1.8 lenses with f1.4 bokeh, hopefully not at f1.4 f mount prices

Very nice, the lens rendering.
I tried the Z7 briefly at Comex but didn't have much time with it as a queue was fast forming behind me.
Will need a much longer play to get a good feel of the camera. Any events coming up?
Did you get to try the FTZ adapter?
If so, are you able to report whether mechanical vignetting is eliminated or at least reduced with fast F-mount lenses since there's no longer a mirrorbox in there?

yes, i am looking forward to better quality lenses at cheaper prices, it does seems that the new Z mount Nikkor S f1.8 lenses are capable of the quality of the f mount f1.4 lenses, or better.

so based on this alone, it is only sooner or later that it will become the new standard. note that you can use f mount lenses with an adaptor on the new Nikon Z cameras, but you cannot use the new Z mount lenses on f mount cameras.

Better quality, for sure. But I’m a bit pessimistic about the cheaper prices part.

Yea, I was looking forward to trying the FTZ but it was only behind glass at Comex.
I’m thinking some of my F-mounts might actually perform better on Z via adapter due to on-sensor AF and possibly bokeh balls that aren’t cut off (mechanical vignetting) because the mirrorbox causing this issue isnt present anymore.
