Hi guys,

I need your suggestions for a problem I sometimes have especially in low-light/low-contrast still life subjects.

Is there any device, besides the Canon ST-E2 (http://emedia.leeward.hawaii.edu/frary/st_e2.htm) that I can mount on the hotshoe which will emmit a criss-corss (or whatever) IR pattern for my lens and cam sensor to pick up on and focus?

The Canon wireless transmitter is just too costly, even at 2nd hand prices to justify getting just as an AF assist light.

I'm using manual flashes and would not want to get an AF digital flash just for this please.

Thanks in advance for your tips. ;)
