There are so many Canon D60 for sale on classifieds.singnet.com.sg

Much more ads then those on Clubsnap.

I think they are trying to sell at a higher and better price, cos they knows that will not be able to sell them on Clubsnap with their price

hee.....price going down....:D

Nikon D100 and Canon D60 come out at around the same time, Nikon one seems to have better 2nd hand price. No new camera replacing D100 yet...

Better 2nd hand price...?? Think again.

With the Canon 10D out, thus the D100 would be a lower in features and functions compared to 10D. In fact, it is a bad sign, as Nikon ain't keen in improving their products.

Just my 2 cents worth.

erm, i beg to differ about this...

1. it's a bit hard to compare the D100 with 10D - both are different platforms and features-wise, the D100 is still pretty much the top-of-the-line entry-level DSLR. i don't see what kinda significant improvements they can introduce over this short period of time (the D100 was introduced barely 6 months ago in SG). which brings me to my next point...

2. is the 10D that significant an improvement over the D60? i understand it's to replace the D30 but the features are a bit too close to the D60 for my understanding...

3. i'm glad nikon didn't choose to launch a new DSLR during PMA in March actually, it means that they do have some sort of product life cycle. i'm sure the D100 owners will agree with me - just ask any D60 owners now what they feel about their cams.

not trolling for flames, just giving my 2 cents too. :D

I think u misunderstand my post. Check the current 2nd hand market of D100 and D60, u will see that D100 is still selling at around S$3k, but D60 now is S$2.5k.

There is no product replacing D100 yet, so no way D100 owner is going to sell their D100 at low price. Not like D60, with 10D at S$2.6k (I guess is correct), D60 owner is forced to sell at below that price...if they wanna sell... :)

Okie... sorry...

Ivor, no problem ;) u do raise one good point, new comers will sure choose D60 or 10D as compare to D100 at the current price. I would be too tempted if D30 is selling at below S$1k :rbounce: :D

Sometimes I wander wats on these people mind...
Is it really worth it to sell away their newly acquired D60 at a loss just to get da "not-so-futureproof" 10D?

So wat difference does it make? They will probably tell me: "Oh, yeah! U dumbhead, the latest camera will always take the best picture!"

Well, tats their money...none of my business anyway...:p
I'm just saying, economy is very bad, a lot of ppl are jobless, ppl are struggling just to make ends meet...Spend wisely...

As always, "Its the photographer who makes the picture"...

Just my 2c worth :D

Thanks. =)

D60 owners might afraid that their D60 will drop below S$2k soon, so if they can sell at S$2.5k now and get another 2nd hand 10D at S$2.3k, not too bad, right? :)

Well, that might be a good thing, Kor King...:)
But considering that they would probably loss about $800-900 in just a few mths. The money is wasted, gone, just like that......It might not seems like much for some, but imagine how many less fortunate ppl can survive on this amount of money. In my home country, Indonesia, it can feed the entire village...

Not trying to give lecture or trying to stop ppl from selling their own equipment...No offense intended ;)
If ppl already decided, by all means, go for it...

I'm just giving my 2c worth :D

henavs, I think those who can afford a S$3.5k D60 is rich enough to not worry about makan/minum already...they sure are rich enough to upgrade to another model, hence don't really care about loses (but will try to minimize)

Just my wild guess... ;p

I still have my D30 (or rather, collecting from the workshop today - the feeling is like bringing your baby home from KKH, but that's another story).

In my opinion the 10D IS a significant improvement over the D60, more so than the D60 was over the D30, anyway. Improved autofocus is about the only thing the D60 needed, and the problem was addressed in the 10D. Well, and maybe the crop factor.

BUT, I would be in no rush to sell my D30 (or D60 if I had one) because of the problem of 10D availability. My D30 was in the workshop since last Thursday (four days ago), to replace a failed shutter, and I developed withdrawal symptoms over the weekend. Found myself pressing an imaginary shutter button while holding my (real) wife's hand yesterday. OK so call me pathetic.

One source has it that the 10D will be available in Singapore only in June 2003. Can you go 4 months without your D30/D60? I can't. I think having the use of the camera in the meantime far outweighs any depreciation it may undergo.

I'm sure they are rich, Kho King...
Ppl have their own way of spending money...:dunno:
Tats why I'm just givin my thought :D

Canon owners are sure lucky...so many choices in the market...D30, D60 and now10D at so very affordable price... :rbounce:

Hi Henavs

first off... nice meekrat candid you have there

as for the 10D, IMHO it is one of those speculation thread on "how good and value for money <enter your favorite name> will be" when the actual item has yet to be commercially available.

In technology late adopters will always benefit but you need to enter the market at some point. Remember how much pc cost ten years back?

10D was probably what D60 should have been but wasnt and knowing how Canon operates, it will hesitate to tweak something and then market it in order to ensure its prominence among consumers. Canon will continue to do so as it is their mode of operation. And if you think 10D is good, wait another six months to be wowed again. The impt thing is to live with what you have and can afford and use it to its potential.

Incidentally I was at the zoo yesterday and noticed the National Parks Board was having its family day there. I cant help recalling the 1/3 retrenchment the board will be facing. Imagine the next family day... furthermore most of the staff had young children with them... retrenched in this economic climate?

Thx, Sebastian

I'm glad u share the same thought...:)

No doubt 10D will excel in term of features & benefit compare to D60. But D30 & D60 already make fine pictures outta a box...In fact, they make GREAT pictures if u use it to its full potential.
