Prizes
What's more, each paparazzo will walk away with:
1 Chingay Photography Pass for 2-Day Chingay Parade Singapore 2011
1 Chingay Goodie Bag (includes 1 Chingay Teddy Bear, 1 Sling Bag, 1 Water Bottle)
Access to selected exclusive preview of Chingay Parade Singapore 2011 preparations

With prizes as such and conditions as such.... I wonder what will be the motivation for the photographer?
It will prolly be better just to come to actual parade itself and take photos while keeping the rights.

Just another cheap method of finding official event photographers without having to pay..

I have to say, this must be the most cheapskate "prize" ever for the most tedious photo assignment I ever come across!

Chingay has totally lost its roots from the days when it used to prowl our heartlands and was free for all to enjoy. Commercialising it just adds another reason to why there's little social cohesion to talk about in Singapore these days. And coming up with such a contest in disguise for free labour has got to be the ultimate twist in the meaning of Chingay indeed ("the art of masquerade" - so says the website).

:sticktong

Not the first and not the last.

It is very disappointing that most local photographic competition are resorting to such tactics to obtain shots for free by spending only a small amount of money for the prize winners.

In this case it was worst. The prizes is like giving the winners a job on Chingay shoot without paying them. :nono:

"The PA reserves the rights to take appropriate actions in cases where Chingay Paparazzi are unable to commit after being selected."

Not sure whether they have the legal right to take 'appropriate' actions since they are not paying the photographers.

this one was the winner for me...imagine your data possibly being used for mass marketing as well as being contacted by agents selling insurance, property.......and etc.

Take note of the above 2 points...

Make sure you can attend all the dates before joining, else you will need to face the consequences.

Those of you who are working, be prepare to take leaves in order to shoot the rehearsals. You Do Not want to miss any of them.

Hmmmm ... this is so like that radio advertisement :bsmilie:

the terms and conditions are too harsh for what is essentially free photography work.

agreed 100%

agreed 100%
later will have a terms and condition that by being on premises during the parade means all photos taken during the event will automatically belong to them and cannot be used commercially much like F1. I wont be surprised if someone on the commitee actually recommended it.

From a layperson's point of view, i can already tell the contract is made by someone totally unprofessional and inexperienced.

The person is being overly greedy in the clauses, trying to take advantage of volunteers at every opportunity, the most damaging being 13.

Thumbs up to the guys here who pointed out how unethical the contract is.

I have participated in many photo competitions here and aboard, I think the rules and conditions of this Chingay photo contest is REALLY BAD! I am sad and disappointed to mention that the organizers have absolutely no respect for photographers. Photographers are treated just like dirt.
