They say (a claim that is not confirmed):

some one says M mount discontinued

Canon EOS R50 marks an unofficial end to the hobbyist EOS M series

M43 sensor is no good. (proof is in death of Olympus Camera Division).
APS-C sensor is good because it is a bridge to Full Frame when the mount is the same. (for Sony E, Nikon Z and Canon RF).

About the M mount...
See this.

Canon discontinues another M mount camera

Canon discontinue last remaining M mount camera - in Japan

These are the cash cows for Canon. They bring home the bacon.
Canon takes a big risk to discontinue them.
It requires courage to kill your current cash cow.

But in the long run, it is expected that Canon wishes to consolidate their camera bodies under 1 RF mount.
Just like what Sony E mount and Nikon Z mount will do.

Then you ask, why did Canon introduce M mount in 2012?
Perhaps the answer is that in 2012, Canon did not anticipate that they would make full frame digital mirrorless ILC (which they did later on in 2018).
Or maybe the RF mount was not yet fully developed in the year 2012.

Hopefully Canon will be able to make suitable camera bodies and a range of smaller RF-S lenses and convince consumers to buy them.
Hence the R50, R10 and R7.

The proof is in the pudding so to speak @3:30. whatever canon may claim the fact remains small sensor is good enough and cost less money in these times.

Don't forget for any company that service their consumers or it fails to give why people want companies pay a price for their arrogance like canon and Nikon did. Now they are saying I want this price for my product. The wisdom in marketing is whatever price is asked ultimately the real price is what the market IS WILLING TO BEAR.
Especially more so in America and EU where there are suffering from high energy prices and economic upheavals. Consumers are not opening up their wallets except for the rich folks where it does not impact them.

Amazon just killed DP Review because the money was running out.
A few big tech companies in US are each firing thousands of workers.
A few US banks have collapsed.

Credit Suisse has collapsed and been bought by UBS. Europe has a $275 billion AT1 funding market.
Switzerland wiped out all USD$17 Billion AT1 bonds issued by Credit Suisse.
AT1 bond holders in other European banks are spooked by this risk.

However, when some lose money, others make money in the same era.
Weapons manufacturers are doing very well. Say thanks to Ukraine War.
Big pharmaceutical companies made US$90 Billion in profits - just from Covid vaccines alone.

Thus not to worry. There will be people who have money to buy Canon's new cameras.
