What other sources are there to convert slide to digital if not getting a film scanner? Just curious. ;)

Just buy any digi cam that can mount an adapter to accept 52mm filter thread and then use HOYA close up lens to achieve 1:1 (use x2 or x4 depending on the min focus distance of the cam). Place the slide on a light box. Copy with your digi cam supported by a solid tripod. The DOF is extremely shallow, to prevent focusing problem, make sure that the slide is parrallel to the CCD. To get the best results, TURN OFF THE LIGHTS IN YOUR ROOM, Use only optical zoom and the highest quality image setting so that you can crop away, if any, the excess data. :p

What if you do not have any digicam? Is it a must to buy a film scanner? Are there any places that provide rental of film scanner? Other than those photography clubs in school. :)

seems a lot of trouble using e adaptor..
somemore.. resolution is not that good if ur DC is not a 4 megapixel at least..
But then again if u using for web stil fine, (i use often for print..cannot have low res)
i think the best thing to do is find a couple of friends n share a film scanner.
