Whatever the ruling party is saying, I don't think they really want to take back ALL the seats. It is not to their benefits to do that and if that happens, then the next election will be very favourable to the opposition to gain some seats. Probably "giving" a few seats to a few "well behaved" opposition members is a smarter move.

Usually the ruling party will not want to give opposition much time to get organized.
