It's ok...if want to do, do prorerly, if not the pix not compose properly then not nice all wasted.
In this case ur entire frame should encompass the plate and metal spoon as well...see, the red tablecloth offers strong contrast to the white plate and dark choco sauce + cake. Use the widest setting to do that, or sit further away.
Just tell ppl that u r learning photography and is now shooting still-life to build a portfolio.
I snapped at all the dishes in a Chinese restaurant on New Year's Eve too.

The others ppl in the restaurant r too bz to notice me.
