Lots of threads talk about getting too much noise. I tried to read the bit in the newbies guide explaining what this is but still don't understand. Is it something to do with pairing a good camera body with an average lens? Isf someone could explain in simple terms, that wuld be great!

It's more about the camera sensor, the higher sensor megapixel density, the more noise it generate.
Though, using a slow lens may force a person using high ISO to get the shot without shake. & Higher ISO = higher noise.
