1. in what area is critique to be sought?
- the composition , contrast , overall perception

2. what one hopes to achieve with the piece of work?
- to express a lifeless signage into different angles and dimension .

3. under what circumstance is the picture taken? (physical conditions/emotions)
- late afternoon , backlane of shophouses .

It's a sign.... don't think you've managed to express it as anything other than it is.
Don't understand your point about angle and dimension, coz you pretty much shot this straight-on.

I like the contrast of colours, that's about it.
It's also a bit out of focus. And is there a reason why it's tilted ever so slightly...?

focus seems to be on the wall .... the sign looks OOF due to tight dof (shooting at lower f-stop?)

whites are overblown too ..... try exposing for the brighter areas of a pic (use your discretion) ..... everything else from exposure perspective will generally tend to fall into place

good luck !
