SIGMA SD9 @ 1800... good deal?

hi guys, the sigma sd9 can be gotten for abotu 1800. + a 15-30, another zoom + 50mm prime, it won't break ur account..

No doubt it has its limitations, but its pic quality is UNBELIEVABLE..

would this be a viable alternative to 10D?

With pics like these i wonder why pple even consider 10D!!!

For me i guess pic quality is top priority..

I dun mind slightly slower AF, lesser ISO options, only use SIGMA lens..

not to mention for the price of a 10D body i can get a Sigma SD9+ 15-30mm!

check this image out... CHECK OUT THE PART where the TWIGS on the trees are against th eblue sky.. that is PURE resolution power for u man..

usually (even for 10D upwards) pictures of distant tree branches against the blue sky appear like a blur...

this is just total pure sharp...

No doubt there is still some noise on the blue sky, but this image combined with a little neatimage will yield the ULTIMATE pic quality..

3.4 mega pixels? so wat? LOOK AT THE PIC MAN!! I think a 6mp resize to this might not even be as detailed...

sorry for posting so many in short time... but im LAO SAI in my pants now.... if i could i'd buy this camera tomororow....

no doubt 'sickma' lenses, and only 2FPS compared to 10D 3fps etc...
But what matters are the images right?

where in singapore can you ever find a SD9? i mean with warranty etc... and i dun mean parallel import...

and where in singapore to get Sigma Lens.. now that Photo Alley is no more... sigh

supposedly the batt life isnt that good.. but the bat grip which costs $130 allows u to put 8AA batteries....

Always liked the idea of AA batteries...

Yah, apparently 10D is a lot less noisy.....

This is where the SD9 lacks... but neatimage can always be used... =P

I'd rather sharper subjects, and noisier backgrounds, then undetailed pictures...

not to mention unbelievable price man...

Rivalling 300D interms of price liao...

:nono: why are u dampening his enthusiasm. since he linked at least one of the pics from dpreview, he obviously knows the good and bad points raised by the review and wants to give it a chance. In fact, he's so confident of Sigma quality that he's willing to buy one without local warranty. Have to give to 2 thumbs up for that :thumbsup:

Please go ahead and buy the SD9 and start posting on clubsnap. I genuinely want to see Foveon samples in 'real world' use but haven't managed to convince anyone on clubsnap or irc to get one yet....

first thing tomorrow goign to call up the major retailers for quotations...

then i have to find a way to get the cash (just paid $$$ to repair my friends bike which i damaged )

i'll buy the cam and hopefully i won't end up with a dud of a cam...

One thing im scared of is, if NOONE bought any SD9s, would the stock that CP or AP have be super old stock 1st batch stuff?

seriously, i'll go for more usable high iso images instead rather than the sd9. just a personal preference.
