Hi guys,

I'm pretty much a canon newbie and I want to get some lenses for a Canon D60. Something cheap, so I'm basically looking at some Sigma lenses. I was just wondering if anybody has any experience with these lenses and which one is the most value for money.

I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks!

The Lenses:

24-70 Sigma f3.5-5.6
28-135 Sigma f3.8-5.6
28-105 Sigma f2.8-4
28-200 Sigma f3.5-5.6

Thanks again!

Try the new 18-200. Think it's pretty good in terms of performance and versatility. Only $500+ new

The 24-70/3.5-5.6 is an excellent lens. Do try it out, you'll be pleasantly surprised at the results.

Hmmm Thanks for the replies, but could you tell me how it is excellent? In terms of sharpness and colour etc is it?

Well, I have a Sigma 10-20mm and 18-125mm....
I would say its realli a sharp and good walk around lense... enuf to cover weddings and events...
;)

18-125? new lense range? think that the thread starter plans to buy lens from within the list indicated... so hoping to get some opinion on those stated... ups for a good fren...;)

I'll be intrested to find out more about the 28-105 :D
Don't think is a good choice. Had one myself some years back.
Used it with my Eos 50. Picture taken with it isn't sharp, colour is muted. Last but not least, always have focus mechanism problem. Sent it for repair twice before giving up on it.

Hehe thanks for the heads up.. it is an attractive price for a relatively fast lens...I'll be sticking to my tired old 28-90 kit for now then :bsmilie:

i would go for the 24-70 3.5-5.6. in fact i was looking for it a while ago. but after checking...i think its not available in singapore.

you seem to have a budget of $500-$600 judging from the lenses you stated. the 28-235 is around $550.

the 28-105 f/2.8-4 is 10 year old technology. go talk to samuel of John 3:16. he used that lens abt 12 yrs ago during his NS days. f/2.8 is not usable...pics are soft.

if yoiu want the 28-135....i would go for tamron's version, whihc gives you 4mm extra at the wide end. 24-135 3.5-5.6 at $490 new.

for $500-$600, i would go for a 18-125 mm if you're not particular with having DC lenses. or else i would choose a 2nd hand sigma 20mm prime and a 50mm 1.8 :)
