Sigma APO 170-500 f5-6.3

Just wondering if any of you have any experience with this lens?

My friend will received this lens and since I sold my mirror lens, I am thinking of getting this lens...

any idea about the price as well as the quality?

I read few review online, seems to point out to the good side..

Any comment on this?

Yo... i have one...
i have the old one though... not the 2nd gen.
they change quite a lot in apperance also of the 2nd one..
so observe better lah...

personal comment:
1. Focusing ring damn sucks... not convenient...too small and position not convenient for me
because rear focusing so they put at the rear...

2. sharpness is so so.. they say the 50-500 is better of course. but for my pocket acceptable lah...

3. I noticed that the purple fringe is better than the 75-300mm this is good for me.

dunno what else...
I love the lense coz it's my 1st big lense...
that's all...

I've the lens too. IMO for the price, it is a good lens.
However you have to be careful camera shake as the lens isn't fast at f6.3. Ypu need good light to achieve good shots.

Personally, I don't think it is sharp sharp... well, maybe I get used to G and prime lenses, but I don't think its bad... Seems like it is a keeper.. hehee... though I doubt if I will be using it much.

Anyway, some images took this morning in local park.

For $570, it should be a 2nd hand. I got mine quite sometime back, can't quite recall. But a new Sigma 170 - 500 should be close to $1k.

I like the red airliner shot, over the moon...cool & sci-fi like.

was a lucky shot. I was shooting the moon and hoping that a red plane can fly across and there it was... virgin blue plane... took about 6 shoots... this one was the best.. though still far from good.
