These were taken with the Nikon D700 and Nikon 70-300mm VR at ISO 1600 during the almost mandatory optional Sichuan Opera performance on our first night's stayover in Chengdu on 26 Oct 08 during our recent Jiuzhaigou tour.

The show “Fu Rong Guo Cui” ( 芙蓉国粹) at the Jinjiang Theatre (锦江剧场) highlights the different aspects of Sichuan opera. The performances included Rolling Lamp in local Sichuan Dialect (performed by a clown and his fierce wife), Mouth Spraying of Fire, Chinese Acrobatics, Puppet Performance, the ever famous Face Changing (變臉) Show and even Puppet Face Changing.

Thanks.
Not as good (at least to me anyway) as those I took of the Tibetan & Qiang Dance Show though.

Probably because those were taken with the exquisite 24-70mm at ISO 800 while these were taken with the lowly 70-300mm VR at higher ISO of 1600. :(
