I was wondering..whenever i am using PASM mode and decided to activate flash,
the shutter speed/aperture remains unchanged...it's supposed to use a faster shutter speed or bigger f-number...no?

any help is appreciated :)

Unclear questions lead to hazy answers. Your question is very unclear.

Different manufacturers have different 'rules' regarding flash behaviour, so first which camera.

Then, what in the world is PASM mode? You do realise that they are separate settings, I hope (P, A, S & M)

If you're in Manual mode, activating the flash doesn't change your shutter speed or aperture. In other modes, depends on lighting situation, manufacturer and mode.

Pls be specific.

Oops sorry
I am currently using Nikon D90. and what i am trying to say is...

Example : A mode : f5.6, 1/5. After activating flash by the button, still f5.6, 1/5.
Example2 : S mode : f5.6 1/5 . after activating flash by the button, still f5.6 1/5.....
P mode as well.
M mode is supposed to be all manual. My bad for including it in the title..

In the same lightning condition, Using Auto mode which the flash will pop up, the shutter will automatically be adjusted to 1/60 unlike A, S or P..

U really need to read up ur D90 manual in page 185 to 191 man on "Custom Setting, e - Flash Control..:)
