I think you are mistaking shutter sound with mirror slap.
But I think Leica M6 has the quietest shutter.

Contrary to popular belief......... it is actually a Konica camera with leaf shutter and silent film transport

Loudest - Canon EOS 3
Quiestest - Leica M7

for those who are trying to hear the shutter sound on an slr, your effort is in vain. what you are hearing is actually the mirror sound. you cant hear the shutter sound behind all that noise the mirror makes...

Haha..of course you are right....but I am sure everyone here is referring to the noise level when the shuttle button is depress...so stop making things difficult.

Loudest mechanical camera I came across : Mamiya RB67
Nikon's MD-12 motor drive is also pretty loud, not sure if it's louder than the infamous EOS 3 tho. Quietest camera - any of the consumer digicams with the artificial shutter sound/beep turned off.

i love the sound of 1v (without pb-e2). the sound changed after i added the pb-e2 :dunno:
