My guess: you didn't format your SD card before using it on the D600. The D600 camera continue from your last file number you took with your previous camera.

I do not think it's possible to reset the shutter count on the camera body.

So nothing to worry as long as the camera is working fine.

Ha ha yesterday mine is face the same, cause I was insert my D800 SD card.
So the number was following from D800 already.

At the end just change the file name into DC6 & DC8 ha ha

To see actual shutter count for THAT particular camera, go download Exif Viewer if you are using a mac. Then use that to open the last shot JPG & under Camera Actuations you will see the shutter count for that camera. Not sure what is an equivalent programme for windows machines.

Here's a way To check your Shutter Count in windows based pc's:

1. Download Picasa Program for windows.
2. Open your latest photo using Picasa.
3. Right click and click properties.
Then you can view all the information of the photo including Shutter Count on the right side.

Cheers..
