hi all,

Got a very noob question to ask, I reached home in the evening, the sun was setting, so I took a few pics. How do you take pictures of sunset/sunrise when the sun is so bright? My "aiming" eye hurt after 10 plus pics.

i took some sunset pics today also...
here they are...

:nono:

do you realise that you have not answered the poor ts' questions
this is bad, i just came from a critique thread where people ask for critique and people tell them add one more bird can have viewsonic
wth

now this

ts:
to link pictures, you need to have the picture HOSTED on an external site
or on clubsnap's gallery (which i have not used before)
i suggest flickr, very user friendly, and uploads really fast, unlike other sites
after you know where the picture link is
use the

tags to post on clubsnap

for example if my image link is
http://nightmareissexy.com/1.jpg
to see the picture here
you will need to put
[ img ] http://nightmareissexy.com/1.jpg [ /img ]
without all the spaces, of course

u can use the img tag
something like this:

it should work.. try it! post the pics!

ok -

by right you are not supposed to look at sun directly through lens
but if you don't then cannot take shots right, especially with dslr

so do it quickly
what i do
raise the camera to my eye
move it away
think of composition
put it up, compose
snap, done

don't just keep looking and looking, that's asking for it

in any case, the sun at sunset is already not so bright, i don't think you were looking at it around sunset moment, right - at least at those moments where the sun is a red round egg as seen in infusia's shots - which are shot rather well technically btw

besides, you shouldn't be staring at the sun
you should be looking elsewhere, not directly at the sun
i hope you are not trying to take just sun pictures
i would imagine them to be immensely boring

thanks for the quick replies!

Does this work?

this works

you need to remove the things after the .jpg part

for more guidance, when you are in flickr
1) click on your photo in your photostream
2) you will see a row of buttons right above your picture, yes?
3) click on all sizes
4) depending on size uploaded, you will see a few tabs
5) usually you will use medium or large, i guess
6) i find that i like modifying size to width 620 when in landscape format, 550 height when in portrait format - this is for easy viewing in the same window then the photo will not be chopped up so much - but of course this is subject to personal preference, so up to you

hope this helps, cheers

thanks for the help everybody! :)

was talking about this question - to which you reply was
"let's see some sunset pictures of mine, yay"
cheers, indeed
but let's move on, shall we
that was more of a statement on admin to be stricter on photo threads per se, not really directed at you , if you must know

no worries... my bad then

I know this is the wrong forum for critiques, but since we're on this topic... anyone cares to give comments on the pic I took? :)

my views:

1) sun is well taken
2) composition is unimaginative and very common, i would call it snapshottish, even
3) silhouettes do not add to image, rather they take away from it

my opinion is that you should try to get a gnd filter (graduated neutral density) and try to find something interesting to put in the foreground

either that or, wait for a really really good sky that can stand alone by itself

Thanks for the comments night86mare, really appreciate it :)

zoom in all the way and create a very close up of the sun. the work sometimes.

if it is too bright for your eyes then it is probably still to bright to shoot a sunset shoot.

I share some tips on shooting some sunset/sunrise here :)
