Shooting Raw?

Why are there a need to shoot RAW? Isnt itsufficient enough to shoot in Jpeg? Pls share some light on this subject..

And thus allows you to work on it better. But you have to sacrifice space (on card and computer) as well as get used to the workflow for RAW.
