Shooting moving objects with a 2KG telezoom lens, what 'pod' to use?

My subject will be flying aeroplanes, and parachutes, a fixed tripod seems
fix the movement also. How do people handle such situation? Monopod or
what? Is it stable? Is there any pod that supports the weight of the lens
while allows left-right & up-down swing?

I think a wimberly gimbal head would work best for you. not cheap though.

OT aside, for ur case, I think handheld is best, esp for fast moving objects like planes. 2kg isn't that heavy to handhold for short periods of time. The flypast and parachutes dropping won't last that long.

I typically use a combo of the 1D + 100-400L (>2kg) to shoot similar aviation subjects. I find it comfortable to handhold.

for larger setups, say a 400mm or 500mm prime, I use a Wimberly Head. It's a more expensive option but the degree of freedom it offers is amazing. Your lens and camera combo feels almost weightless while you swivel it aound freely. There are other cheaper gimbal heads out there but none come close to the build quality of the Wimberly.
