Hi all. Just need some advice on taking weddings as i've not tried it before. So any experienced wedding shooters here can advice me on what kind of lens or ranges to use (preferably) and for the flash, need to bounce or direct with omnibounce or without omnibounce cos i'll be taking mostly indoors.

Thanks!

This is the #499318109327714921724 thread asking for the exact same thing... try searching :D

No hard and fast rule. Generally for film, I will use either 28-70/2.6 or 24-85/2.8-4 on one body and switch between 18/2.8 and 60/2.8 Micro on another body for wide shots where space is limited and for closeups shots of significant objects respectively. Flash preferably you use a bounce card but I have resorted to using the Lumiquest Softbox.

Most important is to stay alert. Watch your foregrounds and background. If it's a group shot, remember you're the one calling the shots and arrange your subjects. Anticipate what's going to happen next (experience quite important here) and be prepared for it. Also, watch your frame counter, if you have hit 32 and you have some time and don't know what's going to come up next, just rewind and load a new roll first.

I've planned to rent a 17-40mm f/4L for this shoot cos i think i'll need that 'wideness' for table shoots. I myself have a tamron 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 but somehow i feel that 28mm's not wide enough. I do not have a bounce card, only an omnibounce, or maybe i've to make my own bounce card.

Quite excited cos it's my 1st time doing a wedding shoot that's why i need some opinions on what to do. I know what u meant by the frame counter thing, fortunately my EOS 30 have a custom function to rewind film with the film leader out. :)
