yes, it is possible to shoot studio quality product shot on the cheap...I have done it using styrofoam board reflectors, reflectors made from black construction paper and multiple sheets of matt heavy weight A3 printing paper for background, all found around my former office...cost $0...and I only used office flourescent lighting...

moral of the story, be creative

i got a $20 light tent some time back, and it gives very good results...

here's the setup:

light tent + 580EX as main light on top + 2x 3M polarizing lights at the sides

some results: (no photoshopping, except for resizing)

shot these using a flash, bounce of a white umbrella, and a white cloth.
