slight USM after resize, bottom left hand corner is the 100% crop without USM

10D + 70-200/f2.8 at f4, 1/60s ISO100
 

Assuming that the cropped section was in the zone of focus, then no, it's not sharp and there is blur going on.
 

how to judge sharpness with digital?

do you zoom in 100% to see if sharp? cos i find that most pics dont look very sharp at 100% but they print out find at 5x7 looking tack sharp.

any advice appreciated
 

You've probably just answered your own question. Sharpness should in practical terms be judged at the size of the final object. In this case, if your 5"x7" prints are sharp, then they are sharp. However in absolute terms, sharpness should be gauged at 100%.
