Alice In Wonderland (3D)

it is a slightly above average movie only if you understand and get the amount of literature the show has. (my friend who didn't get the literature accuse it of being a sucky movie)
the costumes are interesting and i like how spastic the red queen carry herself

Verdict 7/10
I watched Alice In Wonderland in non-3D version. (And this is my first time reviewing a movie )

This is a wonderfully made movie, with Tim Burton's dark humour, punchy colours (instead of his usual deathly-monochromic colours), familiar actors (Depp and Bonham-Carter), great makeup and costume... But it wasn't very satisfying, it just felt like I ordered an upsize meal and only receive a burger.

second to 7/10. >'<

Mutant Chronicles.
Nasty, nasty nasty. Cheap CGI, terrible plot and acting. Avoid at all costs.

Earth

Magnificent footages synched with great scores and narration, and i am sure most of the photo savy folks will agree that every bit of the scenes captured can be translated to stunning photographs. Though the threatical release does not attempt to strike a heavy hardhanded propaganda note, it serves in its little ways a gentle reminder to the audience on conservation and environmental issues. I saw a brief trailer of Ocean ( the next installment ), and I will be ready to catch that one as well.

i give 8/10

Most beautiful moment : The little duck jumping off the tree.

Question: Why Earth, a movie for Earth Day 2009, was not shown last yr..

The Twilight Samurai

Slow but poignant , beautifully refined of a tale of a samurai. No hollywood mega cgi fighting or blasting love stories of what u see from The Last Samurai, but every character pulls off much more emotion in a gentler minimal way. The lovely Rie Miyazawa played a role in the story, but u probably see more of her brilliance in Tony Takitani.

Great sensitive acting by Sanada

8/10

Confucius starring Chow Yuen Fatt.
After watching, highly confused about what rating to give it.

Shutter Island

Mind boggling, and I was even more unsure what happened after i finished watching the movie and i felt abit of emptiness for something more - and probably thats the point. I thought the story lost the chain of suspense on and off, the morbid schizophrenic alternating betw reality / hallucination / memories seemed a little too stuccato and discontinuous. But nevertheless, cerebral, and worth catching.

I will probably not rewatch. 7/10

i've to agree to a certain extend. good plot/storyline, excellent cast n clever double twist at the end.. but the pace is way to slow. :what: had to watch till the end to get the whole picture. guess tats martin style of directing. however the last sentence he said was prob the climax for me.. "better to die a good man than to live like a monster." somehow, i do feel a little emptiness too, kinda like "tats it?" but like wat u said, worth watchin.

Toy Story 3.

Pixar is still a great story-teller through their animation. Recently had the chance to hear Alex Woo of Pixar gave a workshop on storytelling, inspiring stuff.

Visitor Q.

Took a few days off to visit opposite the causeway, and somehow managed to view a copy of Visitor Q. Bizzare, incestuous, graphical, wierd, psychotic, shocking, .. There issin much explaination except taking you on a ride of absurdism. And an unsettling and even wierder Visitor Q that loves hammering his rock on other fella's heads, the dysfunctional family and somehow unites them at the end. Maybe there is an underlying theme for me to reflect on and relish on higher order thinking, but it issin happening. Or maybe everyone is to form their own conclusions.

Unmissably twisted. I dunno if it is considered art

was watching it halfway at home when a terrible car accident happen just downstair.

when the fireman finally extract one of the
passenger out, the feeling of morbid is the same as watching this movie.

there's always top focus lighting on the actors head. wonder what its trying to convey?

6/10.

Taking Chance

HBO has been showing this movie this past week and it's a poignant 'war' movie without the usual Hollywood 'big studio' feel to it.

About how a USMC staff officer volunteers to escort the remains of a fallen comrade back to the deceased's hometown. The pace of the movie is about right, judging by the gravity of the subject matter.

I do not support the war effort in Iraq and Afghanistan, but one cant help but feel for the soldiers who are just doing their job on the ground.

I have seen this movie twice now; both with a heavy heart. And I would not hesitate to recommend it to those interested in knowing how the US military treats its war dead.

The Expendables.

Why the heck did i watch the movie.
Many superstars. No plot. The action was not even near octane. Jet Li's part was silly. And how much did they pay Arnold to do the one minute scene.

35 Rhums (35 Shots of Rum)

4/5

The cast of characters felt like living ones, mixed in with an interesting relationship between the characters and great direction sums into a great movie.

Resident Evil After Life.
I am A resident Evil follower since the games era, Played from RE2. Way before the Movies came out. This movie is definitely a letdown for Resident Evil fans like me, though they did try to use some part of the storyline from the Latest game with ChrisRedfield in it. It looks like they focus more on style/act cool to me !!
Supposed to be horror, and now it becomes a totally action movie!

Overall for Horror action - 2.5/5 !

Tron : Legacy

The trailers were exciting. The movie story was not. Characters were not too inspiring, somehow things did not flow , flips here, flops there. 3D was the bit that made me interested ( kinda sad )

Worse thing was, my wife never wanted to watch the movie, but my puppy enthusiasm dragged her along promising her great story of the yr. Needless to say, she wasn't too happy with the movie and me

Maybe i shld go play the game and see how.
