Sending back lens from USA

HI Guys,

I have a friend currently working in the states. If I purchase lens online and get it delivered to my friend's place than get him to post it back to me in Singapore? Do you think it will be cheaper? Can he under declare the lens as used so that it wouldn't be charged GST?

personal items so I do not think he will need to declare.
